1. What we collect
- Account basics: your phone number, invite code, and sign-in sessions.
- WhatsApp content you allow: messages, and media (voice notes, photos, videos, documents) from the chats you leave switched on, synced via WhatsApp's linked-device mechanism into your own instance.
- Assistant activity: operational telemetry: what you asked, which tools ran, errors, and usage counts: used to run and improve the service. Message text in telemetry is truncated.
2. How your data is processed
- Your own isolated instance. Each person's data lives in a separate instance with its own storage and WhatsApp session, hosted in India. It is never pooled with other users, never sold, never shared with advertisers.
- AI processing. To build briefs, summaries, drafts, documents and images, content from your enabled chats is processed by OpenAI's API as our AI subprocessor. Under OpenAI's API terms and ours, your data is not used to train AI models.
- Media. Voice notes are transcribed and photos described when they arrive (in enabled chats); videos and documents are read when you ask.
- Your switches. A chat you switch off is never sent to the AI, and switching it off deletes what was already pulled from it. Your own CatchUp control chat is always on.
3. What we never do
- Never train AI models on your or your contacts' messages.
- Never sell or rent your data, and never share it with advertisers.
- Never message anyone on your behalf outside the flows you approved.
4. Retention and deletion
- Your data stays in your instance while you use CatchUp.
- Unlink or say "delete my account" and your instance: messages, media, memory, everything: is destroyed.
- Instances that stay disconnected are removed automatically after an inactivity window (currently about 7 days).
5. Security
Isolated per-user containers, per-user credentials, brute-force-capped sign-in, and hardening that treats your contacts' messages as data, never as instructions to your assistant. WhatsApp's own end-to-end encryption is unchanged: CatchUp is a linked device, exactly like WhatsApp Web. See the Security page for the plain-language version.
6. Third parties we rely on
- OpenAI (AI processing, USA) · Amazon Web Services (hosting, Mumbai region) · network egress providers for connection reliability · Google Fonts on this website.
- We do not use analytics trackers or advertising pixels on the website.
7. Your rights
Ask CatchUp in your own chat to see what it remembers about you, to forget something, to stop reading any chat, or to delete everything. You can also write to us (address below) for access, correction or deletion requests. We answer within 30 days.
